1. If closing the crankcase is such a good idea, why don't engine manufacturers do it?

All 2007 and later engines are required to have a closed or controlled device on the crankcase. Engines built prior to 2006 were not required to comply. The EPA and manufacturers were not aware of the open crankcase causing extensive environmental damage and road safety issues. After the Close Crank Mandate, World NCI was the only company that stepped up to aid and help the trucking industry stay in compliance and regain fuel economy which was not possible before.

2. How is the FASTechnology™ different from other manufactured systems?

All crankcase control systems, including FASTechnology™, provide extremely valuable benefits for protecting the environment and making our roads safer. Systems are offered in the $550--$750 price range. In addition to being competitively priced, FASTechnology™ offers additional benefits which are not offered by other crankcase control systems. First and foremost, FASTechnology™ is the only crankcase system with a unique and patented separation technology. Other systems have a filtering technology. FASTechnology™ is the only crankcase system to reduce fuel consumption, pay for itself and require no maintenance or replacement costs. Also, by not returning the contaminated oil to the crankcase, FASTechnology™ provides a cleaner interior engine environment and better oil quality, resulting in better engine operating efficiency.

3. What are the major advantages of installing FASTechnology™ on my engine(s)?

  1. Increased Fuel Economy: Independent tests conducted under the American Trucking Associations TMC Type II and SAE rigorous Fuel Economy Test protocols and procedures concluded that FASTechnology™ will reduce fuel consumption in class 8 diesel vehicles by 4%. With an average class 8 vehicle going 125,000 miles per year, and at today’s fuel prices of almost $3 per gallon, a 4% decrease in consumption reduces the average vehicle’s fuel expense approximately $2,500 per year, per tractor.

When a warm engine is shut down, the natural cooling and condensing process results in numerous contaminants being drawn into the engine through the open crankcase vent. As the condensation process occurs, the oil and engine interior is contaminated with moisture, dirt, acid and other environmental contaminates, which reduces the effectiveness of the oil in transferring heat (especially with the new Ultra Low Sulfur Fuel) as well as the operating efficiency and life of the engine.
  6. Reduced Maintenance Expense: Vehicles that do not contain FAST™ or a crankcase control system tend to accumulate a significant amount of oil on the under carriage and as road dirt is kicked up, it attaches to the oil, which results in a very dirty undercarriage that requires routine cleaning. 4. How does the Fuel & Air Saver™ increase fuel economy?

FASTechnology™ captures unburned and partially burned fuel that is currently being thrown away as it blows past the rings during an incomplete combustion. Fuel economy is increased through the process of introducing the mixture of unburned and partially burned light hydrocarbons (fuel vapors) into the normal fuel and air mixture entering the combustion chamber. In addition to burning fuel that would normally be thrown away, the burn ability of the normal fuel and air mixture is increased as the unburned and partially burned light hydrocarbons (fuel vapors) are added to the normal fuel and air mixture, which results in a better combustion and greater engine efficiency.

5. With FASTech™ installed, could it cause back pressure, engine or turbo problems?

No! FASTechnology™ patented separation system does not produce back pressure. The fact that FAST™ does not create any back pressure was validated through pressure gauge testing during the TMC/SAE Fuel Economy testing conducted at the Auburn University and was additionally found not to be a problem during the EPA/ETV testing conducted at Southwest Research Institute. Testing reports from SwRI and The West Virginia University Center for Alternative Fuels, Engines, and Emissions stated, “No adverse effects on engine were noted”

6. Will FASTech™ increase opacity levels because of “junk” from the blow-by tube?

No! EPA sponsored testing validated the ability of FASTechnology™ patented system for closing the crankcase. Fuel wasted or lost by exiting the blow-by tube is now re-routed back to the intake and mixed with the fresh incoming fuel/air mixture. This re-captured fuel is at a higher volatile state and increases the burn ability of the incoming fuel, causing more complete combustion and reducing opacity; all heavy hydrocarbons accumulated by the collection canisters remain in the collection canisters. Where filters allow soot to return back into the engine's crankcase and firing chambers, FASTechnology™ totally separates the soot and eliminates soot loading from occurring in the engine's lubrication system.

7. How often do I have to service the Fuel & Air Saver™?

Normally at every engines oil cycle or 20 to 25 thousand miles (depending on the current mileage of the engine).

Since the patented see through collection canister allows viewing content levels, we recommend visually examining weekly to monitor oil present. Canister reservoir should be emptied when 50% full.

8. In servicing FASTech™, are there specials solvents or maintenance procedures required?

No! Any solvent or diesel fuel can be used to rinse the separator. Just rinse and re-install the separator onto the head, do not blow out with air. Be careful not to over tighten; hand "snug" is adequate. Remember, the unit is under vacuum, not pressure, and its patented seal allows for a hand "snug" install. The separator should be cleaned every 75,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first.

9. What do I do with the oil collected in the collection canister?

This is nothing but used engine lubricating oil and soot, and should be re-cycled with your used engine oil. Never dump the contents of the collection canister onto the ground. Treat the content as you would old engine oil--recycle it. The recycling of Used Oil is extremely beneficial to our environment and economy. Only one gallon of used oil produces 2.5 quarts of new high quality lubricating oil, but 22 gallons of crude oil is required to produce the same 2.5 quarts of new high quality lubricating oil.

10. Will FASTech™ damage my engine’s turbo after cooler, or inlet air ducting system?

No! FASTechnology™ patented separation system collects the heavy hydrocarbons in the collection canister, and only the usable fuel vapors are allowed to pass back into the intake. On high mileage diesel engines, the blow-by is more evident, diesel fuel has a residue which may cause some form of deposits in the collection lines, but this symptom is just that - fuel residue, not oil. Again, the FASTech™ System needs to be serviced at every oil cycle for that tractor and inspected on a weekly basis (see #7).

11. Will the Air & Fuel Saver™ void my warranty?

No! Engine manufacturers recognize the need for a closed crank case system and produce after-market crankcase control systems, which they promote as being recommended for all types of engines. As a matter of law, the manufacturer would have to prove that the FASTechnology™ directly caused the malfunction. Our EPA/ETV, TMC, and SAE tests have shown the patented FASTechnology™ system does not cause any malfunctions of any engine function and has no adverse effects on the engine.

12. How long will the Fuel & Air Saver™ last?

Unless abused, the Fuel & Air Saver™ will outlast the engine. In any event the materials and workmanship (excluding hoses and clamps) are warranted for as long as the original purchaser owns the FASTechnology™ system.

Replacement of faulty parts is 100% guaranteed – replacement will not be made based on improper service or faulty instillation.

13. What type of warranty does the Fuel & Air Saver™ offer?

The Fuel & Air Saver™ carries a limited lifetime warranty (hoses & clamps excluded). If not abused, the unit will be replaced at no cost (excluding shipping and handling). The FASTechnology™ has been around for over 25 (twenty-five) years with most units still in service today. A onetime Investment makes FASTechnology™ the best aftermarket device on the market today.

14. Will FASTech™ contaminate engine oil or reroute blow-by back into the engine?

No! Unlike filter devices, FASTechnology™ patented collection system completely separates and traps all the unusable hydrocarbon by-products and contaminates including soot, in the collection canister. Nothing but clean, separated fuel vapors enter into your engine's firing chamber. In most cases, tests have shown the installation of the Fuel & Air Saver™ actually reduces oil consumption and reduces oil contamination, specifically soot loading. The FASTechnology™ also becomes an early warning device by way of the “see through” collection canister. Off white or brownish looking residue are tell-tale signs of a blown head gasket or seal that would have normally gone undetected in an open ventilation system. The Fuel & Air Saver's™ collection canister actually provides an early detection system, easily avoiding the expense of a major break down.

15. Are there any types of engines which the Fuel & Air Saver™ cannot be installed?

The FASTechnology™ can be installed on all types of diesel engines. However, as a result of the extreme volume of back pressure created by some dual turbo engines, as a serious caution, until our new “large volume secondary collection canister” is available we recommend, FASTechnology™ not be installed on dual turbo engines. We anticipate that the new secondary system will be available in the very near future.
